H-pattern the bottom

One strip down the seam, then one perpendicular at each end of the seam. Forms an H that won't blow out when you set the box down hard.

Pull, then stick — don't dab

Pull the tape taut as you apply, then press it down. Loose tape lifts at the corners; taut tape stays put for years.

Skip the duct tape

Duct tape leaves residue, doesn't hold on cardboard long-term, and tears at weird angles. Real packing tape is the right tool.
